Cursillo - means short course (of Christianity) in Spanish. Founded in Spain in the late 1940`s. The first English language weekend retreat was held in the United States in 1961. Since then approximately 1 million souls, including priests and deacons, have attended a Cursillo retreat weekend.
In 1980 Pope John Paul II, addressing the first National Italian Cursillo Ultreya in Rome said, "Your movement, which recently celebrated its thirtieth anniversary, devotes itself to drawing forth from Christians a commitment to live lives consistent with their faith whether individually or as a community and to bring this ferment to the environments where you live."
Cursillo members generally meet this commitment while experiencing an excess of blessings from the Lord. We always receive more than we give. Join us in His blessings.
